Community Initiatives

A community initiative is a project that has a significant benefit to a substantial number of people in the community. It won’t require any ongoing involvement from the ECT and won’t expose the ECT to any future claims or financial risk.

Community initiative projects are for a minimum of $5,000 and a maximum of 20% of ECT’s total project funding budget for the year in which the project is submitted.

Funding for a community initiative will only be approved if all other appropriate sources of funding have been investigated. A project must not provide services that are normally the responsibility of local or central government. And if the project (or a similar project) has previously received ECT funding it’s unlikely to be approved.
