Sponsorship

Portside walk from the cut

Sponsorships are intended to “kick-start” new initiatives that stimulate economic activity within the region and attract people to Eastland. There is no expectation that there will be further support past the initial sponsorship. Past examples include the Gisborne Autumn Arts Festival, Te Rangitawaea Festival, and Young Enterprise Scheme.

Sponsorships form a minor part of the Trust’s distributions and are for a maximum of $5,000 and the yearly ECT budget will not exceed $50,000.

The application process

Applicants must fill in the Sponsorship application form . The application must be lodged no less than 8 weeks prior to the anticipated start of the initiative or activity.

All applications will be considered at the next available Trust meeting provided the application is with the Secretary a minimum of 5 working days prior to the meeting. Otherwise it will be considered at the next available Trust meeting.

What you need

The application form addresses the following areas.

  1. Purpose of the project and who will benefit.
  2. Economic benefit and impact for the Eastland region.
  3. Relationship of other organisations involved in the project including funding partners.
  4. Sponsorship amount being requested from ECT including cost breakdown.
  5. Marketing and promotion of project.
  6. Timeline and location of event.
  7. Benefits to ECT for supporting the activity.

What we look for

We look for projects that require additional funding to get them off the ground. Preference will be given to projects that are “new” initiatives that stimulate economic activity within the region.

Applications will also not be considered where:

  • The applicant has a political objective
  • The application is for debt repayment or refinancing of existing loans
  • The information requested by the Trust has not been supplied to the Trustee’s satisfaction.
