Trustee INDUCTION DATE 4 November 2009
“Gisborne is a very special place to me. I was born here and have lived virtually my whole life here. The friendliness of the people, lovely beaches, great fishing and great climate makes the area my pick of places to live”.
Philip brings a wide range of business experience to the ECT board. He began his career as an electrician before moving into real estate and starting his own company in 1996. For ten years Philip was on the Waikato Bay of Plenty District Committee of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand where he was President for three years. In 2010 Philip was elected Regional Director on the National Board of the institute.
Philip and his family are passionate about wine and he designed and managed the development of a vineyard from bare land and launched a new wine company – Brunton Road.
Philip joined as a trustee so he could use his business and life experiences to give something back to the community that has served him well over the years.
He wants to see the Trust distribute funds in a manner that benefits a large number of people and will contribute to giving our young people a hope for the future.
In their spare time Philip and his wife Margot enjoy spending time with their family, especially their three grandchildren. They enjoy fishing, and would like to play more golf. Camping at Lottin Point or Waikaremoana are always highlights of the year. Living on the vineyard gives them a lovely place to go home to each night, and they enjoy seeing each new vintage hit the market.
