Trustee INDUCTION DATE 9 January 2011
“Our family are dedicated to the Eastland region because it’s a fantastic place to raise a family. There’s a real community spirit where different cultures engage and there is an understanding and acceptance of different cultures”.
Geoff is a chartered accountant in public practice (GMA Chartered Accountants) and a professional director. He has been a trustee since 2003 as well as having a Ministerial appointment to the Tairawhiti DHB, being a director on the Ngati Porou Seafoods Group, Board member of the East Coast Rugby Football Union, Chairman of the Horouta Sports Club and trustee on the Eastland Rugby Trust. He was also the past Chair of the Tairawhiti Polytechnic board.
He joined the ECT to provide a voice for Maori, in particular the people of the East Coast, and brings the Maori world view to the Trust.
Geoff is particularly interested in contributing to growing the capital of the Trust and providing for the interests of the beneficiaries. He chairs the Audit and Finance Sub-Committee. He believes balance and transparency are the biggest challenges facing the Trust because the community has a strong interest in understanding how they arrive at the decisions they make.
Geoff and his family (Reubena, Corryl and Jack) are involved in a number of community interests including church, Horouta Sports Club, Comet Swimming Club and the East Coast Rugby Football Union.
